Hypnosis, hypnotism, and trance for personal development
Establishing The Pre-requisites for Excellence
Contrary to popular belief, Hypnosis is a natural psychological process and not a state of deep sleep. It (hypnotherapy) does involve the induction of trance, but this is a natural state youenjoy many times a day and when enjoying therapeutic trance , the patient is actually in an enhanced state of awareness, concentrating entirely on the hypnotist's voice. In this state, the conscious mind is suppressed and the subconscious mind is revealed.
During therapeuatic trance critical thinking faculties of the mind are bypassed and a type of selective thinking and perception is established. It is now recognised that some supposed hypnotic indicators and subjective changes can be achieved without relaxation or a lengthy induction by means of simple suggestion or waking hypnosis, - known as ericksonian Hypnosis (After MIlton Erickson)
Hypnotherapy ; How does it work?
I have helped many people realise their dreams - How?
The Hypnotherapist is able to suggest ideas, concepts and lifestyle adaptations to the patient, the seeds of which become firmly planted.
Hypnotherapy can be considered as kind of psychotherapy. As a trained counsellor I am conversant with the different current schools of thought , and incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy,Integrative therapy and person centred principles in my work .
Hypnotherapy facilitates the efficiency to re-programme patterns of behaviour within the mind, enabling irrational fears, phobias, negative thoughts and suppressed emotions to be overcome. As the body is released from conscious control during the relaxed trance-like state of hypnosis, breathing becomes slower and deeper, the pulse rate drops and the metabolic rate falls. Similar changes along nervous pathways and hormonal channels enable the sensation of pain to become less acute, and the awareness of unpleasant symptoms, such as nausea or indigestion, to be alleviated.
